The regulatory and safety requirements of privately operating an aircraft have evolved in recent years. ICAO as mandated some operational and maintenance requirements that, once implemented, have greatly improved safety. These rules are contained in ICAO Annex 6 SARP.
In the EU, the European Air Ops rules for NCC comply fully and often go beyond the ICAO mandate. NCC stands for Non-Commercial operations with Complex motor-powered aircraft. In a nutshell, it requires the operator to have defined operational procedures contained in Operational Manual (OM), and professional maintenance (CAMO, Part 145).
A Private Operation can offer many advantages:
- Lower operational costs
- Greater aircraft availability
- New aircraft faster approval
- Less operational restrictions / approvals required
